GSE&IS Building, Room 111
(just west of the Research Library)

Abstract: For 25 years, the University of California libraries have worked together to realize a vision that is encapsulated in the phrase one university, one library. Pursuing this ideal, they have built ten campus libraries of distinction while supporting world-class research and instruction across the university. They have also won an unparalleled reputation for innovation and service.

This presentation summarizes key achievements and identifies key opportunities and challenges, and provides insight into how the libraries' vision shapes research, teaching, and learning experiences at the University of California.

Dan Greenstein is University Librarian for Systemwide Library Planning and Scholarly Information and Executive Director, California Digital Library. He has served as Director of the Digital Library Federation, as founding director of two national networked information services working on behalf of the UK's university and colleges, and as senior lecturer in modern history at Glasgow University. He holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and from Oxford University.

Everyone is invited.
