Abstract:

In this project, our team took a holistic, multi-pronged approach based on varied research methods to examine information systems available on and for public bus transit. After observing the bus, we brainstormed lists of possible solutions to perceived problems with bus transit in Los Angeles. Later, we went to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro) Dorothy Peyton Gray Transportation Library where we interviewed the librarian, the archivist and the head of Interactive Design and Creative Strategy. We also examined Metro archival materials from throughout the institution’s history, including many of Metro's own records of proposed improvements to bus transit.
