Abstract:

The Actively Assembling Course Experience (AACE) system provides for a revolutionary paradigm shift in pedagogy as the concept of emotion in the learning setting evolves with futuristic classroom technology. The Actively Assembling Course Experience (AACE) system is based on techological trends anticipated to be present five to ten years into the future, including sensor-gesture technology, semantic web, social networking, mobile platform integration, and advances in metadata. This system allows both professors and students to capture the classroom experience by seizing classroom events through a multi-modal approach. The Virtual Teaching Assistant (VTA) acts as the main integrative force behind both the three layered integrated Moodle-like system and the emotional-time tagging and ambient lighting. The VTA becomes smarter over time, allowing for a classroom which has an easy access interface over an increasingly complexly sculpted semantic data model.
